We attended the 73rd DALC AGM at the Chesterfield Football Club today.
The official business was followed with a talk by Peter McCrea member of the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber), based at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
Following Peter's presentation the results of the DALC Excellence Awards were announced.

We had a great day at the YLCA conference held on Friday 13th September at the Mercure Fairfield Manor Hotel in Skelton, York.
The day started at 10:00am and included fascinating presentations from Waverley Community Council and Barlby & Osgodby Town council on innovative community projects they'd worked on. There was a lovely sit down lunch followed by an afternoon of workshops.

The LRALC held it's first AGM on Saturday, 15th June 2019. This is the first AGM since becoming a limited company on 23rd April last year. The event was held at County Hall in Glenfield, Leicestershire and was well attended.

Hampshire County Council has recently had to apologise after mistakenly publishing a notice on their website stating that Prince Philip had died in what has been blamed on an "internal error."

Liz Page, clerk to Belper Town Council was presented with her 'Clerk of the Year' certificate at the Derbyshire Association of Local Council's AGM. The AGM was held at the Pride Park football stadium (home to 'The Rams') on Tuesday, October 9th.

The YLCA 2018 Conference was held in York last week, there were 75 Yorkshire councils in attendance.
We had a stand, conducted a workshop and made many new friends. The workshop was called; 'How to raise the profile of your council through good use of media and websites'. The workshop was run twice during the day with each session being very well attended.

I'm sure that you are all aware that GDPR comes into force on May 25th 2018.
GDPR replaces the existing law on data protection (the Data Protection Act 1998) and gives individuals more rights and protection regarding how their personal data is used by councils. Local councils and parish meetings must comply with its requirements.
