GOV.UK domain for Leicestershire & Rutland Association of Local Councils
We've successfully completed the application process for a new gov.uk domain name for the Leicestershire and Rutland Association of Local Councils (LRALC).
"We used to have a .org.uk domain," explains Jake Atkinson (pictured right), chief officer at LRALC. "Our new gov.uk domain befits an organisation with a desire to reflect and build upon the professional nature of its membership offer and services to local councils."
2commune is a member of the Approved ISP scheme which is operated by Janet, the organisation which became responsible for the administration and registration of domain names under the ac.uk and gov.uk domains on 1 August 1996.
It is only members of the ISP scheme who can apply for gov.uk domain names. This is a reasonable approach as the process and the eligibility requirements could be daunting for individual organisations to understand and comply with.
We discussed the application with the LRALC and then submitted the relevant responses, dealing with any requirements to clarify information and resolving the acceptability of the chosen domain name.
